Call for Papers

“Sharing the Word of Hope with the World”

The conference of the European Society of Women in Theological Research will take place at the Academy of Theological Studies of Crete in Kolymbari, from August 17 to August 21, 2015. It will provide the opportunity to women engaged in theological research to exchange views, to unite their voices in solidarity and to propose ways of making this way just and thus proclaim the word of hope. The fact that the conference will take place in a Mediterranean country will offer a unique chance for women from South-Eastern countries and Middle East to attend the proceedings and participate to it.

The focus of the conference will be on the liberating and transforming power of Hope in our world that suffers under discriminations, suppression, social and ecological degradation, injustice, and exploitation. It is anticipated that the papers and discussions during the conference will not only highlight these aspects of the hostile relations that human beings developed towards each other but also towards the rest of the creation; it will also stress the peacemaking and conciliating potential of the word of hope as this is expressed through the texts of religious communities and individuals but also in every form of cultural production and in academic theological research within different social and cultural contexts. The role of women in the dissemination of this hopeful message, their social involvement as well as their engagement in the transformation of this world will be the main focus of the conference.
